Welcome to Troop 884!

Welcome tothe website of Boy Scout Troop 884 in Manassas, Virginia. We are pleased by your interest in our Troop.

Troop 884 has been supporting parents in their efforts to nurture and grow the character of their sons for over 45 years. Our goal is to use scouting as a platform for young men to gain the confidence and leadership skills they need to make a positive difference as competent, contributing members of their communities.  We create opportunities and encourage our scouts to learn and become proficient in a variety of outdoor and other skills and, throughout it all, to practice leadership in an environment where they are free to try and to fail, and expected to pick themselves up, dust themselves off, square their shoulders and try again.

884 is proudly chartered by American Legion Post 10 here in Manassas and fortunate to have the full and enthusiastic support of the post - we couldn't ask for a better chartered organization.

Ours is a small troop.  Our boys all know and like one another, there are no “cliques” and no one gets left out.  Our scouting year affords plenty of opportunity for the boys to earn merit badges, advance in rank and move through the program at their own pace.  We meet during the school year every Wednesday night from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM at the Robert Vincent McMaugh Memorial American Legion Post 10 in Manassas, VA. During our meetings, we work on Scout skills, advancement, merit badges, and fun.  In addition to weekly troop meetings, the troop does an outdoor activity each month, such as fishing, hiking, orienteering, skills camp-out, a fall shooting camp-out, and a winter skiing trip.

Much of our community involvement stems from the fact that we are chartered by a military-focused organization. Most of what we do is in support of the Legion Post, including participating in Veterans and Memorial Day events, flag retirement ceremonies, and representing the Post by marching in parades.  Our scouts also volunteer at their churches and in their communities, as well as supporting their fellow Scouts by helping with Eagle Scout projects.

Again, thank you for your interest in our Troop.  If you would like more information or to visit our Troop during a weekly meeting, please do not hesitate to contact Scoutmaster Phil Kellogg at
