Pack        
Preparing boys for their lives ahead.             

 
Each Den is a grade level, K thru 5th grade.  The "Pack" is all the Dens put together.  Our Pack meetings are once a month and are typically the third Tuesday of each month from August thru May of the school year, at Liberty Elementary, in the Plainfield School District, at 1401 Essington Rd., Bolingbrook.  We schedule a separate, Pack event each month.  Cub Scouts is a family-based organization.  Parents are encouraged to stay for the Pack meetings- to share in your sons experiences and to hear annoucements/details for upcoming events.  We try to make the Meetings fun for the Scouts and Parents.  Pack Nights are for the entire family. Siblings are welcome as well.

• Each Den will meet once a month, in addition to the Pack meeting.  The Den meeting schedule for the year is worked out by the Den Leader, with the parents input on availability.  One extra Den/Pack activity/outing/field trip will be scheduled each month.  Parents are encouraged to stay for every Den meeting to take part in what your son is learning.  This is mandatory for Lions, Tigers (1st grade) and for all new Scouts.

• Each Scout advances by earning the minimum required Achievements/Adventures in their rank-level handbook.  Den Leaders help guide the Scouts thru each annual program.  In May, there is a graduation ceremony where they receive their new rank insignia.

• Communications with Parents are mainly by email (using 'Scoutlander' website) for Den and Pack annoucements and sign-ups for events such as camping, events, picnics, etc.

•  Funds: We have modest annual dues/fee and Popcorn is the only incentive-based fundraising we do.  We have a very manageable minimum quota of popcorn sales and camps are pay-as-you-go.  Your annual dues cover the annual registration fees with Boy Scouts of America, include Boys' Life magazine, achievement patches, awards and the year's Pack meeting programs.

 

• Camping- Typically each year there is a Family Camp, a Spring Day Camp (no overnight stays at this camp), Summer Resident Camp and usually one overnight stay at a location such as a museum.  These events are paid for by each family as they are scheduled. Each Camp is age-appropriate and has it's own theme, filled with activities, and are affordable.

Each Pack meeting is something new and fun!  There are annual events such as the Pinewood Derby, Raingutter Regatta and the Blue & Gold Celebration, which is a celebration of Cub Scouting.  The Scouts will also be involved in Community Service projects such as tree plantings and park clean-ups, to reinforce the value of being a responsible citizen.
