Welcome New Parents to Cub Scout Pack 654!

Cub scouting is a family oriented organization part of the Boy Scouts of America(BSA) designed for boys & girls 7-10 years of age to develop character, citizenship skills and all around fitness. Pack 654 is part of the Rancho Mesa District, San Diego-Imperial Council (SDIC). We are chartered by St Michael’s Church in Poway, CA and primarily meets at St. Michael’s School. Parents, Adult Volunteer Leaders and our Chartering organization work together to achieve the purpose of Cub Scouting.

Cub Scout Ranks & Dens
Advancement in Rank Recognition is important to young boys & girls. The Cub Scout advancement provides fun,  gives a sense of personal achievement as scouts earn badges, and strengthens family understanding as adult family members work with scouts on advancement requirements.

Groups of 5-10 scouts meet bi-weekly together as a Den. Each den is led by a Den Leader and an Assistant Den Leader together with other parents.
Kindergarten and their adult partners form the Lion Cub Den(Pilot Program).
First graders
and their adult partners form the Tiger Cub Den.

Second graders and their adult partners form Wolf Cub Den.
Third graders
and their adult partners form the Bear Cub  Den.

Fourth and Fifth graders
and their adult partners form the Webelos Dens*
* Webelos 1 & 2 Dens take part in more challenging experiences, such as overnight Den camping with parents,
which helps them prepare to enter Boy Scouts at the end of fifth grade.
All Dens meet every 1st Thursday of the month in a Pack Meeting. It brings together scouts from every den, their leaders, and their families, to participate in a large-scale event that serves as a showcase for everything the scouts have learned and done in their individual den meetings.
