COOK OFF RULES & REGULATIONS

Boy Scouts of America Troop 5

Who are the best cooks in your troop? How do they match up against other troops?

Here is a great way to find out!


GENERAL INFORMATION

This competition is about encouraging Boy Scouts to make a meal themselves using either a Dutch Oven or other campsite means.

**The quantity to prepare is listed in the rules section. The objective is to have enough among all
teams for everyone to try. All other meals during the weekend are the responsibility of the individual
units attending.

Judging will be conducted and prizes awarded in two cooking categories -- Entrée and Dessert.
The criteria used for judging (100 points possible) will include:
- Appearance of food (30 pts max)
- Scout participation judged through random visits to participants’ cooking sites (30 pts max)
- Taste of food (40 pts max)

 

LOCATION

The Yeti Beast Feast Cook Off registration, cooking, judging, and awards ceremony will take place at the lodge at Scott AFB Scouting Area at Scott Lake.

 

REGISTRATION

A registration form, copy of your recipe, and ingredient list is required for a complete registration.

***Those that have someone in their troop with base access can coordinate with the front gate for access, all other please contact Troop 5 for information on gaining access at least 2 weeks prior to the event.

 

SATURDAY EVENT SCHEDULE

The judging will take place between 5:00 and 5:30 with the awards ceremony taking place at the evening campfire. The cooking can begin as early as you need to.  We will have a short judges meeting at 4:45 to review criteria etc.  Remember to plan your troop's activities to allow time for your team(s) to have time to compete. 

 

4:45 pm      Judges Meeting (Participants are invited, but not required to attend)

5:00 pm      Dishes Due / Judging begins

                   The Awards Ceremony will take place at the evening campfire.
